Invisalign
A smile with gaps or crooked teeth can ruin your confidence. You may find that you are hiding your smile in pictures or not expressing yourself fully. But those gaps are even more harmful when you consider more than appearances. Your food may not be getting chewed properly, and you could be placing undue stress on your jaw because of your misaligned teeth.
Thankfully, Parkway Dental has a discreet orthodontic solution for you—Invisalign. Invisalign straightens out your smile quickly and invisibly! Call us today to get started with a consultation.
What Is Invisalign?
How can we straighten your teeth while it goes unnoticed? Invisalign doesn’t use a wire and bracket system like traditional orthodontics do. Instead, it uses a series of clear plastic aligners similar to a night-time retainer. These carefully designed aligners place light pressure on your teeth to move them into their new position.
They are completely clear, and do not alter how you speak, meaning that no one has to be distracted by your orthodontic treatment! You can simply enjoy a straighter smile in 6 months to 2 years.
The Benefits of Our Invisalign from Parkway Dental
Invisalign offers many benefits! It is the best of both worlds, as it fixes oral health issues and cosmetic concerns at the same time! Invisalign offers:
- Discreet Treatment: Invisalign aligners are clear, so no one can tell that your teeth are being straightened! It also won’t impact your speech.
- Shorter Treatment: Invisalign takes less time than a traditional orthodontic solution. Dr. Schamel can give you a time estimate on your personal treatment at your consultation.
- Less Chair Time: You don’t have to continually visit the orthodontist to have your wires tightened. Instead, you change out the pre-made aligners once every two weeks.
- No Change in Diet: You remove Invisalign to eat or drink anything besides water, so you can continue to eat chips, corn, and candy without damaging your orthodontic work.
- Pain-Free Straightening: Since Invisalign doesn’t need wires tightened, it is also a much more comfortable process.
Relieve Jaw Pain and Tooth Wear
While crooked teeth can cause serious distress regarding your appearance, dentists also love Invisalign for its oral health benefits.
When you have crooked teeth, they receive uneven wear and tear when they chew, smile, and even when you sleep. That uneven wear and tear is dangerous, and can’t be undone.
If you have a misalignment of the jaw, you can also cause stress and uneven wear and tear on your temporomandibular joint (TMJ). This can cause jaw pain and make your teeth more likely to become misaligned as they try to compensate.
Invisalign straightens your teeth and can make simple adjustments to jaw occlusions, freeing you from the oral health concerns associated with crooked teeth.
Our Invisalign Process
Invisalign always starts with a consultation, even if you already know the dentists at Parkway Dental. We will take detailed scans of your teeth to see if you have a misaligned jaw or crooked teeth.
If we find that you are a good candidate for Invisalign, we then start treatment planning. Dr. Schamel will create your series of aligners, then you can come pick them up or have them shipped to you!
You will switch your aligners about once every two weeks, which makes chair time for the dentist minimal. No uncomfortable wire tightening is needed!
Throughout the process, you should wear your aligners at least 22 hours a day. You can take them out to eat and brush your teeth. You’ll even wear the aligners to bed.
Who Is a Good Candidate for Invisalign?
Invisalign can adjust minimal to moderate orthodontic issues, such as:
- Gaps in your smile
- Overbite
- Underbite
- Generally crooked teeth
However, it cannot pull impacted teeth down from your jaw or adjust your bite heavily. We will tell you if we think Invisalign can help you out!
