What Is Invisalign?

How can we straighten your teeth while it goes unnoticed? Invisalign doesn’t use a wire and bracket system like traditional orthodontics do. Instead, it uses a series of clear plastic aligners similar to a night-time retainer. These carefully designed aligners place light pressure on your teeth to move them into their new position.

They are completely clear, and do not alter how you speak, meaning that no one has to be distracted by your orthodontic treatment! You can simply enjoy a straighter smile in 6 months to 2 years.

Our Invisalign Process

Invisalign always starts with a consultation, even if you already know the dentists at Parkway Dental. We will take detailed scans of your teeth to see if you have a misaligned jaw or crooked teeth.

If we find that you are a good candidate for Invisalign, we then start treatment planning. Dr. Schamel will create your series of aligners, then you can come pick them up or have them shipped to you!

You will switch your aligners about once every two weeks, which makes chair time for the dentist minimal. No uncomfortable wire tightening is needed!

Throughout the process, you should wear your aligners at least 22 hours a day. You can take them out to eat and brush your teeth. You’ll even wear the aligners to bed.

Who Is a Good Candidate for Invisalign?

Invisalign can adjust minimal to moderate orthodontic issues, such as:

• Gaps in your smile 
• Overbite
• Underbite
• Generally crooked teeth

However, it cannot pull impacted teeth down from your jaw or adjust your bite heavily. We will tell you if we think Invisalign can help you out!
